Assam OBC Scholarship 2026


Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has released the official notification of Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme 2026. Basically, these are centrally sponsored scheme of Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for the students of Assam belonging to Other Backward Class (OBCs) for the academic year 2026-2027.

Scholarship Amount

 
Pre-Matric Scholarship:  
 
The students shall be given a consolidated academic allowance of Rs. 4000/- per annum. 
 
Post-Matric Scholarship:   
 
The scholarship includes the following components for the complete duration of the course:-

Eligibility Criteria of Assam OBC Scholarship

 
Community: Only Other Backward Class (OBCs), Economically Backward Class (EBC) and De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT/S-NT) students are eligible to apply for the Scholarship.
 
Citizenship: The scholarships are open to Nationals of India only. 

Type of school/ institution & Class: 
 
Pre-matric: The students should be studying in class IX and X on a full-time basis in Government Schools only.
 
Post-Matric: Pl check Scholarship Guidelines - Post-Matric for more details . 
 
Family Restriction: Only two boys of the same parents/ guardian will be entitled to receive scholarships. This restriction will, however, not apply to girls. Accordingly, scholarship availed by girls of same parents/guardian will not adversely affect admissibility of availing scholarship upto two boys of same parents/guardian.

Income Ceiling: Scholarships will be granted to the OBC students whose parental/guardian's income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum. The income certificate should be obtained only from the Circle Officer of respective Revenue Circle.

How to Apply for OBC Scholarship ?

 
Candidates need to visit official national scholarship portal https://scholarships.gov.in for submission of online application this scholarship. One needs to follow below mentioned steps to apply online for this scholarship.

Step 1: Scroll down, go to Important Web Links section.

Step 2: Click on One-Time Registration link .

Step 3: A new webpage will be opened.

Step 4: Enter your details as required in the portal; and register yourself.

Step 5: After registration, Click on Online Application Form and Login.
 
Step 6: Enter all credentials and upload your documents as required in the portal.

Step 7: Finally click on "Submit" and take print out of your submitted application.

Students mandatorily need the following documents to fill up the OBC Scholarship Application Form. 
Bonafide Certificate
Bank Passbook
Income Certificate
Caste Certificate
Aadhaar Card
Note:

  • Applicants are advised to give only that bank account details which remains in active mode so that payment of Scholarship does not fail as all the disbursement of Scholarship will be made through DBT mode. The authority shall not be responsible for any failure of transaction due to inactive or incorrect bank details. 
  • Applicants to ensure that they have a bank account seeded with Aadhaar number.
  • A Bonafide Certificate is required to be obtained from the Head of the Institutions is to be submitted.
